In this little guide, we give you a walkthrough of the changes we made for our VKB keybinds for primariliy an industrial gameplay. We are aware, that keybinds are a matter of personal preference but at the end it comes down to practice and muscle memory. We maintain as much as possible from BuzZzKiller, so that you can import his configuration according to his awesome guide and start from there. \

You might get overwhelmed by the amount of possibilities of keybindings Star Citizen has to offer. Even after 2 years of playing, we still haven’t utilized the whole potential but rather focus on industrial gameplay. It might be, that your focus of gameplay is different, but going through our thought process may help you to find suitable keybindings to your gameplay as well.

Since Star Citizen is a space simulator, we focus first on the keybindings for handling the ship. Keep in mind, we do industrial gameplay, so we do bindings for the weapons, self defense but not really knowing, what we’re doing.

Positioned wrong and need to be rebound Link to heading

First of all, we need to identify the preconfigured buttons (physical) we think, is “wrong” since they utilize function we don’t use nor have no use for. Then we need to identify the buttons (logical) in Joy2Key and as well the button names in Star Citizen. We acknowledge, that with the correct configuration file in JoyToKey - the button names names / numbers are the same.

The structure is as followed:
